Paul & Claire Tinkerhess opened Fourth Ave Birkenstock in 1989 to offer service, selection and repair of a brand that reflected their own values of simplicity, sustainability and health. Over the decades the store has become a much-loved resource for Birkenstock fans near and far.

 

 

 

In 2025, Paul & Claire transferred the store's ownership to long-time employee Jeanine LeBrell, who is committed to maintaining its reputation for excellent service under the new name Fourth Ave Footwear.
